Date Sold 1/29/2017Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Studio Booking Letter (measures 8 1/2" x 11"; 1 page) (Learn More) Alexander Film Company was a film company founded in 1919 in Spokane, Washington, specializing in films shown during intermission at drive-in movie theaters. These films were generally a compilation of announcements and paid advertisements, making Alexander Film Company, at one point, the world's largest producer of theater film advertising! However, with the advent of television and many local theaters closing throughout the country, as well as an industry blacklisting due to being non-union, Alexander Films collapsed and shut down in the 1950s. Important Added Info: Note that this is one of a collection of 18 letters from 18 different studios to theater owners in the 1920s confirming their booking of specific movies. These represent a fascinating look into how the film and theater business worked at that time! The 18 letters are being auctioned in 18 separate auctions. Condition: good to very good.
