Date Sold 6/25/2013Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Window Card Movie Poster (WC; measures 14" x 16" [36 x 41 cm]) (Learn More) Jules Verne's Mysterious Island, the 1961 Cy Endfield English/U.S. science fiction (sci-fi) fantasy adventure thriller ("A world beyond imagination!"; "Adventure beyond belief!"; "They plunged into a world of incredible dangers and mysterious forces!"; with "Visual Effects Created by Ray Harryhausen"; "In SuperDynamation"; "Based on the Jules Verne Novel"; about prisoners of war, captured by Confederates during the Civil War, that escape to an uncharted South Pacific island via hot-air balloon!) starring Michael Craig, Joan Greenwood, Michael Callan, Gary Merrill, Beth Rogan, and Herbert Lom ("as Captain Nemo"). Note that this movie is well regarded today, but the producers were having difficulty getting financing for it, because they did not think it would do well at the box office! But Disney had a big success with "Swiss Family Robinson" the year before, which was a very similar movie to this one, and that enabled the producers of this movie to get financing! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this window card has been trimmed and it now measures 14" x 16" [36 x 41 cm]. Also note that this window card was never folded. Often window cards would be folded across the middle, because that would make them 11" x 14", and they could then be sent with standard folded posters. Most collectors put an added value on a window card that has never been folded. Condition: very good. The window card originally had a blank top that was neatly trimmed off (this was commonly done with window cards, when the top had been left blank, or when someone had hand-scrawled play date information in that area). Most collectors do not consider it to be a significant defect at all, since only blank white paper is lost, and the window card becomes easier to frame. Learn More about condition grades
