Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Pressbook (measures 11" x 17"; 16 pages). Also included is an ad supplement that has 1 page (measures 11" x 13 1/2"). (Learn More) Marooned, the 1969 John Sturges science fiction (sci-fi) astronauts-stranded-in-outer-space thriller ("Three marooned astronauts. Only 55 minutes left to rescue them. While the whole world watches and waits..."; "Based on the novel by Martin Caidin"; "The Saga Of Ironman One!") starring Gregory Peck, Richard Crenna, David Janssen ("as Ted Dougherty"), James Franciscus, Gene Hackman, Lee Grant, Nancy Kovack, and Mariette Hartley. Note that this movie started production in 1965, and at that point, Frank Capra was the director, but he couldn't get the budget to what Columbia wanted it to be ($3 million), and the movie was abandoned. Four years later, it was filed by John Sturges with a budget of $8 million! Frank Capra never made another movie. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that pressbooks were prepared prior to a movie being released. Often, changes would be made in a movie advertising campaign (billing of actors, different images, etc.), and the theaters would print up special supplements that they would send out with the pressbooks that had already been printed. These supplements are very rare, far more rare than the pressbooks themselves! Some pressbooks would have no supplements, some would have one, and some would have several. Almost every Academy Award winning movie would have a special "Academy Award winner" supplement. Note that this pressbook is part of an amazing collection of 456 different horror/sci-fi pressbooks (our items #5387 through #5842)! The collector who assembled this collection did so over a span of several decades, and to duplicate it would surely take at least that long, if one started today. But on October 30th, every one of these pressbooks will go to a new owner, as all are being sold with NO reserve. Note that this collection spans the years from 1950 to 1972, and just about every single 1950s and 1960s horror/sci-fi movie is represented here. Also note that we have listed them in DATE order (first by year, and then alphabetically within years). This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to acquire rare pressbooks that almost never are offered for sale! Condition: very good to fine. Note that this pressbook is complete and uncut! Since pressbooks were INTENDED to be cut up (the theater owners would cut out the newspaper ads to run in their local papers).
