An Undated (probably 1940s) Re-release Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Three-Sheet Movie Poster (measures 41" x 81") (Learn More)

Boots and Saddles, the 1937 Joseph Kane singing cowboy western musical ("Original Story by Jack Natteford") starring Gene Autry, Smiley Burnette, Judith Allen, Ronald Sinclair (billed as "R.A. Hould"), and Guy Usher. Note that Ronald Sinclair is an interesting, but pretty forgotten actor. He was a child actor (billed under his birth name, which was "Richard Arthur Hould", or "R.A. Hould") in the late 1930s, who retired from acting in the 1940s. Later, he resurfaced as a film editor, and he worked on famous movies, including "Die Hard" in 1988. He passed away in 1992 at the age of 68.

Condition: very good. This poster was linenbacked, and one of the following is true: either the poster had minor defects, and was well backed, OR it had more significant defects, but they were extremely well restored, OR it had some very minor defects that were not completely restored, and are somewhat noticeable. You can tell which of the above is the case for this particular poster by reading our "pre-restoration" description and also by looking at our "super-sized" image of the actual poster (we are the only major auction company we know of that gives accurate detailed pre-restoration information about linenbacked posters to our bidders, but we wish everyone did!).

Someone trimmed off the top blank border of the poster prior to linenbacking, and the restorer did not replace it (it is not particularly noticeable that it is missing). The poster had small paper loss in the top right crossfold (in Autry's temple). There was small paper loss at some other crossfolds and creases and tiny tears on some foldlines. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was nicely backed, and displays well! Note that the restorer who mounted the poster did not leave any excess linen around the edges of the poster.
