What IS linenbacking? Learn More

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The entire poster had darkened, and there were vertical creases and scuffs scattered throughout the poster. There were many creases, tears, and a few small areas of paper loss around the edges of the poster. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. At some point after linenbacking, the poster was roughly handled, and there are now creases and small tears in the left and right edges of the poster (the restorer left no excess linen on those sides). If I owned this great poster, I would likely have it removed from this linen and professionally re-backed, and after proper restoration, it will look fantastic!
