An Undated (probably 1970s) Re-release Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked 1sh Int'l Movie Poster (measures 29 1/4" x 41") (Learn More) El Dorado, the 1967 Howard Hawks Texas cowboy western ("It's the big one with the big two!"; "They were friends. They were enemies. A passerby could not tell which was who."; "This was the seething sultry Old Southwest. Where loyalties and labels shifted with the sands, the winking of an eye, the wavering of a gun!"; "In a story of the elements. Wind, Earth, Sky, Loyalty, Redemption, Man, Woman, Gunfire!"; "They came for the gold. They stayed for the adventure."; "Based on the novel 'The Stars in Their Courses' by Harry Brown"; "Screenplay by Leigh Brackett"; a virtual re-make of Hawks' own "Rio Bravo") starring John Wayne ("is the Gunfighter"), Robert Mitchum ("is the Sheriff"), James Caan (in his fourth credited movie role!), Charlene Holt, Paul Fix, Arthur Hunnicutt, Michele Carey, Edward Asner, and Johnny Crawford. Note that this movie was virtually a remake of John Wayne's great success, "Rio Bravo"! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: Peltzer Important Added Info: Note that we do not know WHAT country this poster was printed in, or in what countries it was used. It is NOT a "Spanish/U.S." one-sheet, and we feel certain it was not printed in the U.S. It is printed entirely in Spanish, but it is not a Spanish size or an Argentinean size, so it is likely it was printed for use in Spanish speaking countries other than the above two, but where it was printed and used is a mystery to us! If anyone knows more about this poster, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Condition: very good. This poster was linenbacked, and one of the following is true: either the poster had minor defects, and was well backed, OR it had more significant defects, but they were extremely well restored, OR it had some very minor defects that were not completely restored, and are slightly noticeable. You can tell which of the above is the case for this particular poster by reading our "Pre-Restoration Defects & Quality of Restoration" description and also by looking at our "super-sized" image of the actual poster (we are the only major auction company we know of that gives accurate detailed pre-restoration information about linenbacked posters to our bidders, but we wish everyone did!). The poster had small paper loss at the top two crossfolds and a fine line of surface paper loss across the top foldline and right half of the middle foldline. There were pinholes in the corners and some minor border defects. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was nicely backed, and displays well.
