A 1961 Re-Release Vintage Theatrical Folded French One-Panel "Grande" Movie Poster (1p; measures 47 1/4" x 63" [120 x 160 cm]) (Learn More) Los Olvidados (released in English-speaking countries as "The Young and the Damned" and also as "The Forgotten Ones"), the 1950 (released in the U.S. in 1951 [Spanish language] and 1952 [subtitled]) Luis Bunuel Mexican teen juvenile delinquent melodrama (about the many wild Mexican children who roam the streets of Mexico after World War II, living in great poverty, and stealing or doing whatever they could to survive) starring Estela Inda, Miguel Inclan, Alfonso Mejia, Roberto Cobo, and Alma Delia Fuentes. Note that this is widely considered one of the greatest Mexican movies ever, even though it was made by Luis Bunuel, who was from Spain. He filmed the movie in Mexico soon after World War II, and he was obviously greatly influenced by Vittorio De Sica's "Sciuscia" (Shoeshine) from 1946, and perhaps even the Dead End Kid movies of the 1930s. This movie resembles "The Lord of the Flies", in that it shows just how lawless and cruel children can be when they grow up in awful circumstances. It is not an easy movie to watch, but it absolutely should be seen! Note that in 1981, Hector Babenco made the movie "Pixote", which was clearly an homage to this movie.
