eMoviePoster.comAuction History Result s043 LIFEBOAT #2 movie lobby card '44 Hitchcock, great cast portrait! Date Sold 1/30/2007Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (measures 11" x 14") (Learn More) Lifeboat, the classic 1943 Alfred Hitchcock (nominated for the Best Director Academy Award for this film) World War II (WWII) shipwreck survivor suspense melodrama ("Out of man's rawest emotions - comes the most amazing drama life ever staged!"; based on the story by John Steinbeck; set entirely on a lifeboat adrift on the Atlantic ocean, which has eight survivors from a ship torpedoed by a Nazi U-boat, and it also has a German sailor from the U-boat, but the other eight survivors don't know that!) starring Tallulah Bankhead, William Bendix, Walter Slezak, Mary Anderson, John Hodiak, Henry Hull, Heather Angel, Hume Cronyn, and Canada Lee. Note that Alfred Hitchcock was famous for having cameo roles in his movies, but because this movie had no other characters other than the lifeboat survivors, he could not appear in the usual way (but he included a scene where a floating newspaper is shown that has his picture on it)! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this card is completely unrestored and has never had any restoration of any kind, nor has there been any tape on the front or back of the card. The back of the card is completely blank, with no writing or stamps. NOTE: Most lobby cards from before 1940 (and some from after that date) did not have individual lobby card numbers like later lobby cards (those printed after the advent of NSS in 1940) did. So we have arbitrarily assigned numbers to unnumbered lobby cards, only when we sell more than one from a set, so that there is a convenient way to tell different scenes apart. (Note that we do not use #1, because this is commonly used to signify the title card). The exception to this is sets of cards that did not have title cards. Condition: fine. There is a fine line in the middle of the right edge of the image that extends 2" into the image and is either a faint scuff line or a minor printing defect. There is a single pinhole in the center of the top blank border. There are the most minor of creases in the borders. The card is in really nice condition! IN THIS SPECIAL ALFRED HITCHCOCK LOBBY CARD AUCTION, we have given a more detailed overall condition grade along with more details about the condition described in words. Of course, we could not describe every single defect, plus there are some defects (like tape on the back, extremely tiny pinholes, etc) which can be VERY difficult to see, even in our largest "super-sized" image. Therefore we strongly recommend that you BOTH read our written description of the item, AND ALSO look at our super-sized image to see the extent of the defects that we describe and to examine the poster for minor defects that we did NOT describe. We have also noted what, if anything, is on the back the lobby card, and whether it has ANY restoration of any kind, including amateur tape restoration. Learn More about condition grades
