An Undated (probably 1950s) Re-release Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Belgian Movie Poster (measures 14" x 22") (Learn More) G-Men (G Men), the 1935 William Keighley gangster crime melodrama ("See Uncle Sam draw his guns to halt the march of crime! The federals are coming - in Warner Bros.' epic of the end of gangdom!"; for the first time, Cagney played "a good guy", a young man who wants to become a "G-Man", or government man, and Warner's wanted to downplay that in its advertising, so they had advertising that was ambiguous as to which side of the law Cagney was on!) starring James Cagney, Margaret Lindsay, Ann Dvorak, Lloyd Nolan, Robert Armstrong, Barton MacLane, Monte Blue, Regis Toomey, Edwin Maxwell, Russell Hopton, Noel Madison, Ward Bond, Raymond Hatton, and William Harrigan NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: very good. This poster was linenbacked, and one of the following is true: either the poster had minor defects, and was well backed, OR it had more significant defects, but they were extremely well restored, OR it had some very minor defects that were not completely restored, and are slightly noticeable. You can tell which of the above is the case for this particular poster by reading our "Pre-Restoration Defects & Quality of Restoration" description and also by looking at our "super-sized" image of the actual poster (we are the only major auction company we know of that gives accurate detailed pre-restoration information about linenbacked posters to our bidders, but we wish everyone did!). The poster was folded once vertically and three times horizontally, and there is an extra horizontal fold 1" above the regular middle fold. There was light wear on the foldlines and many tiny tears, pinholes, smudges, and creases around the edges of the poster. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was well backed, but the restorer pretty much backed it "as is", solely doing light restoration in the image area, and leaving the borders and the edges of the image as they were, likely assuming they would not show or not be distracting when the poster is framed.
