An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Belgian Movie Poster (measures 15 3/4" x 23 1/4" [40 x 59 cm]) (Learn More) After the Thin Man (released in other English-speaking countries as "Nick, Gentleman Detective"), the 1936 W.S. Van Dyke romantic detective mystery crime comedy sequel ("Continuing the fun in their sequel"; "Continuing the fun in their new hit!"; "Their New joyous hit!"; "Mr. & Mrs. Thin Man are back in their joyous new hit!"; "'Me too' says Astra, the Dog"; "From the story by Dashiell Hammett"; one of the very popular "Thin Man" movies; the very first sequel to the super popular 1934 movie "The Thin Man") starring William Powell (as Nick Charles), Myrna Loy (as Nora Charles), James Stewart (Jimmy Stewart; in his ninth movie role), Elissa Landi, Joseph Calleia, Jessie Ralph, Alan Marshall, Teddy Hart, Sam Levene, Dorothy McNulty, Penny Singleton, and Asta (the dog). Note that original 1936 material from this very first sequel to the 1934 movie "The Thin Man" is almost as rare as that from the first movie! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that in 1994 we sold a completely different Belgian poster from this movie with a close up image of the stars by a different artist. That poster measured the usual size of pre-War Belgians. THIS poster has the same fonts and studio logo as that poster, yet it measures almost exactly half the size of that poster, and it is larger than post-war Belgians. Therefore, we think it is likely that this is a second poster from the first release in 1937 (and it certainly has magnificent art)! If anyone knows more about this poster or exactly when it was released, please e-mail us and we will post it here. What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good to fine. The poster was never folded. It had some slight darkening around the edges. Overall, the poster was in very good to fine condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was nicely backed, and displays well! Note that the restorer left a tiny bit of excess linen around all four sides of the poster (they left a small border in order to protect the poster from handling damage, but they did not leave a larger border, to allow it to more easily fit in a frame).
