An Original Vintage Spiral-Bound Campaign Book (measures 12" x 17" [30 x 43 cm]; 40 pages) (Learn More) Warner Bros 1938-39, the 1938 spiral-bound campaign book ("Warner Bros. will give you Action in 1938-39") created to promote upcoming Warner Bros films. Note that until we were consigned this campaign book, we had considered the idea that Warner Bros. did not make U.S. campaign books at all in the 1930s and 1940s after 1931, because of the hundreds of campaign books we have auctioned, we had never been consigned one from Warner Bros. from after 1931. We thought that maybe they were so successful after 1931 (or the owners so cheap, or both!), that they did not want to "waste" money on campaign books! But the existence of this campaign book (and two Swedish Warner Bros. 1930s ones we were consigned at the same time) shows that this was incorrect. Of course, we don't know if they only made one U.S. one after 1931 in 1938, or if they made them for some or many of the other years of the 1930s, but we sure hope that they did! If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. This campaign book has many great color ads with great stars, including Bette Davis (a 2-page spread; in three movies), Hell's Kitchen (Dead End Kids and Humphrey Bogart), James Cagney and Pat O'Brien (Angels with Dirty Faces, Boy Meets Girl, Oklahoma Kid), Dodge City (Errol Flynn, a 2-page spread), Errol Flynn (a 2-page spread), Errol Flynn and Ginger Rogers (in a movie that was never made), Paul Muni (Juarez, a 2-page spread), Kay Francis (in three movies), The Return of Doctor X (Boris Karloff!), and many more! What a wonderful group of ads for top movies and top stars! Important Added Info: Note that we have never before auctioned this campaign book! Given that it is the only Warner Bros. U.S. campaign book we have seen from after 1931, and given that it has lots of wonderful ads, we would think that there will be great competition for this book! Note: We have 11 images of this campaign book, but due to a space limitation, only TEN of the 11 images are displayed above. However, there is a "supersize" link to the right of those images that lets you see the other 1. Condition: good to very good. The book has some wear around the edges of the cover with many scuffs on the back cover. Most of the interior pages are in really nice condition but a few have some smudges.
