An Original Vintage Autographed 8" x 10" [20 x 25 cm] Still (Learn More) The Mills Brothers (also called The Four Mills Brothers and The Four Kings of Harmony) were a legendary black African American jazz singing group comprised of four brothers (John, Herbert, Harry, and Donald) from the 1920s to the 1980s. Some of their hits include: Lazy River, Paper Doll, Across the Alley from the Alamo, and The Glow Worm. They also made a few movie appearances, including: The Big Broadcast, He's My Guy, and When You're Smiling AND Connie Mack (born Cornelius McGillicuddy) was an American professional baseball catcher, manager and team owner from 1886 to 1950s. He is the longest-serving manager in Major League Baseball history, and holds records for wins, losses, and games managed. His victory total is almost 1,000 more than any other manager. Mack managed the Philadelphia Athletics for the club's first 50 seasons of play, starting in 1901, before retiring at age 87 following the 1950 season, and was at least part-owner from 1901 to 1954. He is the only manager to win consecutive World Series on separate occasions, and his five Series titles remain the third most by any manager. Mack was elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame at Cooperstown, New York in 1937. He passed away in 1956 at the age of 83. Important Added Info: Note that this still has handwriting on the back that is very interesting! It says "The Mills Bros. and Connie Mack mgr. Philadelphia Athletics. Mr. Libovitz want you to inscribe beneath this picture when you put it in the frame. Thanks. The Mills Bros" and next to that is a stamp that reads "MILLS BROS.". We would think this means that one of the Mills Brothers wrote this inscription and was telling the person receiving it that Mr. Libovitz wanted Connie Mack to sign beneath the picture, but we are not certain, although it does seem a certainty that one of the Mills Brothers wrote the inscription. It also is certainly a wonderful photo of the legendary singing group with one of the most legendary baseball managers ever! If anyone knows more about this photo, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Condition: good to very good. There are several scuff marks across the middle of the image, but they are faint and not very noticeable except when the still is tilted to the light. There is a 1 1/2" tear in the upper left border that was repaired with tape from the back (see our images). Learn More about condition grades
