An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) Columbia Pictures, the circa 1932 stock poster ("It is our privilege and pleasure to announce to our patrons that this theatre during the coming months will show the matchless photoplays and bright stars of Columbia Pictures. Watch for these outstanding gems of screen entertainment!") featuring the art of Columbia studio stars such as: Barbara Stanwyck, Jack Holt, Evelyn Brent, Richard Cromwell, Jean Harlow, Constance Cummings, Ralph Graves, Noah Beery Sr., John Wayne, Loretta Sayers, Frank Capra, Charles Bickford, Mae Clarke, Lois Moran, Buck Jones, Tim McCoy, and Eddie Buzzell. What a wonderful collection of talented actors and actresses (and one of the most talented directors ever) Columbia had at this time! They would soon lose several of these stars to other studios, because Harry Cohn would not match the salaries those studios offered. Had he been more generous with his stars, Columbia might have become one of the top studios of the 1930s! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that in 1995, we were consigned two examples of this wonderful poster. We auctioned the first example that year, and it sold for $2,500, and we auctioned the second example a year later, and it sold for $3,000. We have not been consigned another example of this poster in the 21 years since, until we were consigned this example! What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good. The poster had tiny bits of paper loss scattered throughout, including some in some stars' faces. They were truly tiny bits in most places, some like pinholes, and many only slightly larger. There was paper loss scattered down the left blank border and a lesser amount of paper loss in the other three borders, with paper loss in the right corners, extending into the background area. Overall, the poster was in fair to good condition prior to linenbacking. A really talented restorer did an excellent job linenbacking and restoring the poster. They repaired the above defects, but they did not do so in a way that gave the poster a heavily restored look, and in fact, from a reasonable viewing distance, almost any collector would think it had little restoration at all! But please bear in mind this poster's significant defects and the restoration it has had before placing a bid on it. Learn More about condition grades
