An Original Vintage Folded French Circus Poster (measures 45 1/4" x 62 3/4" [115 x 159 cm]) (Learn More) Cirque Ancillotti Plege (literally translates to "Ancillotti Plege Circus" and sometimes known simply as "Cirque Ancillotti"). This is one of many 1920s French circus posters promoting a show, and featuring artwork of circus clowns, animals, and other performers. Note that the Plege circus was well-known in France in the 1900s. After the death of Antoine Plege, his widow and then his son ran the show. In 1908, Plege's daughter married Ugo Ancillotti and they eventually created the Cirque Ancillotti Plege. Artist: Henri Florit Important Added Info: Note that this is an extremely rare pre-World War II French poster, which we have only auctioned once before! Virtually no French posters survive from before, during, or right after World War II. Apparently there were many paper shortages in France during World War II, resulting in the destruction of almost all pre-World War II posters! Condition: fair.
