An Original Vintage Theatrical Window Card Movie Poster (measures 14" x 22") (Learn More) The Conqueror, the 1956 Dick Powell historical action adventure epic melodrama ("'I am Temujin... Barbarian... I fight! I love! I conquer... Like a Barbarian!'"; "2 years in the making... At a cost of $6,000,000!"; "The world? I will take it! The woman? I will tame her!"; "This Tartar woman meets his fire with ice... matches his fury with flame!"; "Under his heel... Cowering nations! In his arms... An untamed woman!"; "Spectacular as its barbaric passions and savage conquests... 2 years in the making... At a cost of $6,000,000!"; "This Tartar woman is for me and my blood says take her!"; "'Is Temujin so wanting for a woman that he must quench his fire with ice?"; "At her feet The Conqueror laid all the riches of Cathay... and for a hundred years their children ruled half the world!"; produced by Howard Hughes) starring John Wayne (as Temujin/Genghis Khan!), Susan Hayward, Pedro Armendariz, Agnes Moorehead, Thomas Gomez, John Hoyt, William Conrad, and Ted de Corsia. Note that this movie (which took two years to make) was shot at a site downwind from the Yucca Flats, Nevada nuclear testing site and many of the cast and crew took a break to view an actual above-ground nuclear bomb blast. 91 of the cast and crew later contracted various forms of cancer, including Pedro Armendariz, whose kidney cancer was so painful that he shot himself. Other victims included Dick Powell (lung cancer), Agnes Moorehead (uterine cancer), John Hoyt (lung cancer), Susan Hayward (brain cancer), and John Wayne (twice - lung cancer and 15 years later stomach cancer). Of course, to be fair, many of the above people were major smokers, and some of the cancers could have been unrelated to the atom bomb test, but there is a much higher incidence of cancer among this group of people than among a similar group of people from the same years who were not present at the atom bomb test. Condition: good. light stains around the edges of the poster; some scuffs within the image This window card is in "lesser" condition (it is clearly in less than "very good" condition, and may be all the way down to "fair" condition, as we are selling a collection of early window cards that were found inside of a wall, and those all have water stains and other defects, which should be easily seen on our large images)! This window card has clear defects, which are likely to be very noticeable in our "large" or "super-sized" images that you can click on from our small image at right. In addition, we have also noted in words what these defects are in our "Description of Defects" section above, as some of these defects may not be all that visible in the images. We know that some collectors could accept this window card's defects, and display it as is, and we also know that many collectors would only be happy with this window card if they had it restored, so please do not bid on it unless you can accept it as it is, or are willing to pay to have it properly restored. Of course, you should realize that if you do not bid on this window card because of its condition defects, it may be quite some time before you see this window card offered again!
