An Autographed 3" x 5" Index Card (Learn More) Roy Rogers (often referred to as the "King of the Cowboys") is considered one of the all-time top cowboy western actors (he started in the 1930s and worked in film until the 1950s) and was nearly always accompanied by his equally famous horse, Trigger. He had many female co-stars until he starred with Dale Evans, and they married, and remained married for over 50 years! After his movie career wound down, he and Evans had an extremely successful TV show AND Gene Autry was a famous singing cowboy western actor from the 1930s to the 1950s. He began singing on radio in 1928, and by 1931, he had his own show. But his big break came in 1934, when he appeared in Ken Maynard's "In Old Santa Fe", and the audiences liked this "singing cowboy", and the next year, he starred in a really wacky serial "The Phantom Empire", which had an underground civilization and robots, but Gene managed to duck away every chapter to sing on his radio show! In 1936, he signed with Republic Pictures, and that ushered in the era of singing cowboy westerns, which soon became much more popular than most regular westerns. He continued his singing, writing over 200 songs, including his greatest ever, "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer", which sold over 30 million copies. He had a hugely successful TV show, and there was all sorts of merchandising, including toys, games, and comic books. He invested wisely in real estate and bought radio and TV stations, as well as the California Angels baseball team, and he became one of the most successful actors turned businessmen ever. Some of his movies include: Red River Valley, Melody Ranch, and Springtime in the Rockies. He always appeared with his horse Champion. He has five different stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame (for movies, radio, television, recording, and live performance), the only person ever awarded five different stars! Important Added Info: Note that this index card has been personally autographed (signed) by BOTH Roy Rogers AND Gene Autry. The index card could be matted with a vintage or repro still and framed together to make a cool display! Note that this item was consigned to us by an individual who owned a company that made movies and videos with famous celebrities in the 1980s and 1990s. The owner of the company would have the celebrities sign items from their famous films, and sometimes he would find second or third celebrities to autograph an item he already had gotten signed! In addition, he would ask celebrities he came in contact with if they had signed items from other stars that they would sell to him, and he purchased a number of items that way. He also would purchase unsigned items from the famed Larry Edmunds Bookshop in Los Angeles (to have the celebrities sign), and while he was doing that he would also purchase some of their signed items. So all of these autographed items we are auctioning were either obtained in person, obtained from celebrities who obtained them in person, or obtained from the Larry Edmunds Bookshop, and we feel certain that the autograph(s) on this item is authentic!
