A 1951 Re-Release (re-titled "Phantom of Paris" for this re-release) Theatrical Folded One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) Edgar Allan Poe's The Mystery of Marie Roget, the 1942 Phil Rosen Universal Paris France crime horror murder mystery thriller (based on the Edgar Allan Poe story; this was Poe's sequel to "Murders in the Rue Morgue", so naturally, Universal tried to make a sequel to their own version of the earlier movie, and they used some of the actors who had appeared in "The Wolf Man" the previous year; this movie concerns the disappearance of a woman and the subsequent murder; one of the highlights of the movie is Maria Ouspenskaya doing much scene stealing as she had in "The Wolf Man") starring Maria Montez (in the title role as Marie Roget), Patric Knowles, Maria Ouspenskaya, John Litel, Edward Norris, Lloyd Corrigan, and Nell O'Day NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that we have only auctioned three examples of this poster before! Condition: fair to good. The poster is in much lesser condition. There are several defects scattered along the edges and foldlines/crossfolds and there are several significant areas of foldline and/or crossfold separation. Many of the defects have been repaired with tape from the back that may bleed through to the front. The back of the borders and folds may have had paper tape that has been removed and that has darkened those areas. There is some discoloration scattered in various areas and there are crease scattered in various areas. Please see our super-sized image to get a good sense of the condition of this poster prior to placing a bid and please do not bid unless you can accept the defects described above, or you are willing to pay to have them properly restored.
