Date Sold 9/26/2023Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Autographed Note (measures 4 1/4" x 6 1/2" [11 x 17 cm]) (Learn More) Bette Davis was a legendary actress from the 1930s to the 1980s. She was Warner Bros. leading female star throughout the late 1930s, and she continued as a major star throughout the 1940s, and she had one of her greatest triumphs, All About Eve (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), in 1950. She refused to retire, and took out a famous ad in Variety seeking work (citing her two Oscars!), and she starred in What Ever Happened To Baby Jane? (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film) and Hush, Hush, Sweet Charlotte in the 1960s. Some of her other movies include: Dangerous (winner of the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), Jezebel (winner of the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), Now, Voyager (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), Of Human Bondage, Star (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), Mr. Skeffington (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), Little Foxes (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), Letter (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), Dark Victory (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film) and too many others to list! She passed away in 1989 at the age of 81. Important Added Info: Note that this signed note has been personally autographed (signed) by Bette Davis! Our consignor purchased this (and several other items, which are in separate auctions) from an estate sale of some of David Gest's belongings, including many lobby cards. Mr. Gest was a lobby card collector since the 1970s, and he was a close personal friend of Michael Jackson's (and later married to Liza Minnelli!), and he certainly had many opportunities to meet the celebrities who signed his cards, so we feel 100% certain that the autographs we are offering from his collection are genuine (but the auction house our consignor purchased them from did not issue certificates of authenticity). As is true of all the signed items we are currently auctioning, we give every buyer 30 days in which to review what they purchased (although we prefer they do any "authenticating" while the auction is "live" and before they place a bid) and they can return any item as long as it is within 30 days of the end of the auction. On non-signed items, we give a "lifetime guarantee" on everything we auction, but on signed items, we give the above modified guarantee of 30 days after the auction closes. Condition: very good. The note was glued to a white sheet and then shrink wrapped to a piece of foamcore. We are leaving it that way, in case the new buyer wants to display it this way. Learn More about condition grades
