An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Australian Daybill Movie Poster (measures approximately 13" x 30") (Learn More) Murder, My Sweet, the classic 1944 Edward Dmytryk romantic detective mystery crime film noir ("Meet the new Dick Powell! Two fisted, hardboiled, terrific!"; "Meet this year's biggest movie surprise... Dick Powell playing a new kind of role... In a murder-mystery that packs as big a punch as the NEW Dick Powell!"; "Haunted by a lovely face... hunted for another's crime!"; "Two-Fisted, hardboiled terrific!"; adapted from the novel 'Farewell, My Lovely' by Raymond Chandler) starring Dick Powell (as Philip Marlowe), Claire Trevor (as Velma Valento), Anne Shirley (as Ann Grayle), Otto Kruger, Mike Mazurki (as Moose Malloy), Miles Mander, Douglas Walton, Don Douglas, Ernie Adams, and Dewey Robinson. The movie was intended to be released as "Farewell, My Lovely", the name of the source novel, but it was changed at the last minute. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that during World War II (WWII), some Australian daybills were printed with a "full bleed" on the left and right sides, meaning they had no blank borders. Apparently, this was done to save on paper during World War II. I had been told by one of the foremost experts on Australian daybills that he does not believe this poster to be trimmed (looking at it extremely closely, the borders seem far too perfect to be trimmed, so I agree) and I am also told it is the only example of this poster he is aware of! Condition: very good to fine. the poster was lightly folded in half an extra time resulting in three extra light horizontal foldlines; small paper loss in the bottom left blank corner; looking at the back of the poster, I can see light water stains across the middle foldline, but the only trace of it you can see from the front is a very slight discoloration in Anne Shirley's neck; a tiny tear near the right end of the foldline that runs through Trevor's hair (the 1/4" tear is in her hair). Other than the above, the poster is in quite nice condition! Learn More about condition grades
