Note that this movie was first announced by Republic Pictures in 1950, starring John Wayne, but for various reasons, the movie was never made at that time. Finally, Wayne was able to get it made (with himself as the director) a full decade later! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: Rolf Goetze Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good. The poster had a "IN TODD-AO" in the black background below the left of the red "A" in the title area, and it was partially blacked out (of course by a theater that was not showing the movie in Todd-AO). It also had tiny paper loss at the crossfolds. It was folded an extra time 4" from the top of the poster. There was a water stain in the top left corner slightly extending into the edge of the black background, with some creases and scuffs in the solid black areas, and some tears in the borders. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was backed onto a thin linen with no restoration, and it could either be displayed as it is, or it could be properly re-backed by a talented professional (I don't know if the marking that covers the "IN TODD-AO" could be removed, or if that area would need to be repainted).
