A 1947 Re-Release Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Half-Sheet Movie Poster (1/2sh; measures 22" x 28") (Learn More) Block-Heads (Blockheads), the 1938 John G. Blystone post-Armistice World War I (WWI) military screwball comedy (produced by Hal Roach; set in the present day, 20 years after the end of World War I, Stan is a forgotten World War I soldier who never left his post for 20 years after the war was over, and his best friend Ollie introduces him to the many things he has missed in the world over the past two decades!) starring Stan Laurel, Oliver Hardy (Laurel and Hardy), Patricia Ellis, Minna Gombell, Billy Gilbert, James Finlayson, and Patsy Moran NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: good to very good. The poster had minor creases along both foldlines. There were many creases and tears down the right border. There was a 9" V-shaped tear that extended into the background area, ending just above the "S" of "BLOCK-HEADS", and then continuing into the "!" after "SENSATION". There were stains in the top blank border, more so in the right half, just extending into the edges of some of the images. There were stains in the top 9" of the right border. There were creases and tears in the top right inset image, with paper loss in the top right corner, but only in the blank border. There were two tears in the lower right border, extending into the edges of the image. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was pretty much just backed as is, and almost no real restoration was done to the defects in the right of the poster described above. If I owned this poster, I would certainly give it to a talented restorer to have them perform additional restoration to the above areas, either with or without re-backing the poster. After proper restoration, the poster will look great, and it will not require very much restoration within the image area at all. Note that the poster was stored tightly rolled in a tube for many years (rolled with the image side out). The poster has a strong "curl" to it from being stored that way, but the curl will eventually vanish if it is stored flat under a heavy weight. Learn More about condition grades
