An Original Vintage Theatrical Deluxe 7" x 9 3/4" Stage Play Still (Learn More) Spencer Tracy was an actor from the 1930s to the 1960s. Some of his best films were those he made with Katharine Hepburn (his love of many years). Some of his movies include: Judgment At Nuremberg (nominated for the Best Actor Academy Award for this film), Inherit the Wind (nominated for the Best Actor Academy Award for this film), Libeled Lady, Bad Day At Black Rock (nominated for the Best Actor Academy Award for this film), Fury, Boys Town (winner of the Best Actor Academy Award for this film), The Old Man & The Sea (nominated for the Best Actor Academy Award for this film), San Francisco (nominated for the Best Actor Academy Award for this film), Guess Who's Coming To Dinner (nominated for the Best Actor Academy Award for this film), Father Of The Bride (nominated for the Best Actor Academy Award for this film), Captains Courageous (winner of the Best Actor Academy Award for this film), and scores of others! He passed away in 1967 at the age of 67. Important Added Info: Note that this still is from when Spencer Tracy was a Broadway actor. It is from 1927 when he was in his third play, which was three years before he would be noticed by John Ford in the play "The Last Mile", which led to him going to Hollywood and becoming a superstar! Also note that this still has been trimmed and it now measures 7" x 9 3/4". Also note that this is a deluxe still printed on double weight paper stock. Note that this still was consigned to us by legendary collector/dealer Marty Davis! Marty was hired in 1972 to evaluate the entire collection of W. Ward Marsh (1893-1971), who was the film critic for the Cleveland Plain Dealer newspaper from 1919, until his retirement in 1970. In 1919 Marsh wrote his first of 23,000 movie reviews for the Plain Dealer. Marsh died less than a year after his retirement in 1970. His library, and photographic and memorabilia archives were given to the proprietor of Cleveland's finest bookstore. Marty Davis was the first person with a background in film history and collectibles to examine the archives. He worked for three to four hours a day, for six months, and his compensation was his pick of the archives. This still (and the other stills that carry this paragraph) are from the W. Ward Marsh archives, and all were stamped on the back by Marty Davis to indicate that they came from this legendary collection. Condition: good. The left and right borders have been trimmed. There is a diagonal crease in the top center of the still running from the right of the top border through Tracy's hair and forehead, and into his ear (it is not that noticeable when the still is looked at head on).
