An Original Vintage Promo Letter (measures 8 1/2" x 11" [22 x 28 cm]) (Learn More) Amos 'n' Andy, the famous 1928 - 1955 comedy radio show (about two African American best friends and their families), starring Charles Correll (as "Andy") and Freeman F. Gosden (as "Amos"). Note that in 1930, there was a movie based on the radio show, with Correll and Gosden playing the lead roles in blackface. In 1943, a TV show version was added and it ran until 1955 (when both the TV and the radio show ended), and of course, being on TV, black actors played the parts. Important Added Info: Note that this "faux" letter was supposedly sent from the "Fresh Air Taxicab Co. of America", which was the fictional company in the Amos 'n' Andy radio show. The letter is purportedly from Amos and Andy, and it is written in dialect that was considered historically funny in 1931, but of course, this type of humor will never be used again, and thankfully so! This is a fascinating artifact of how blacks were viewed in America in 1931. Condition: fair to good. Someone kept this and used it to get the ink off of their "PAID" stamp, so it has been stamped many, many times on the back, and six times on the front (see our images).
