Date Sold 4/17/2022Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Italian Locandina Movie Poster (measures 13 1/4" x 27 1/2" [34 x 70 cm]) (Learn More) The Getaway, the classic 1972 Sam Peckinpah romantic crime action thriller ("Screenplay by Walter Hill"; "From the novel by Jim Thompson") starring Steve McQueen (as Doc McCoy), Ali MacGraw (as Carol McCoy), Ben Johnson (as Jack Beynon), Al Lettieri (as Rudy Butler), Sally Struthers ("as Fran"), Slim Pickens, Jack Dodson, Dub Taylor, and Bo Hopkins. Note that the source novel of this movie was pretty "unfilmable" as written (especially the ending!), but Walter Hill did an excellent job adapting it, and while it is not the same story, it is in many ways faithful to the original, and it is certainly one of the best movies of its kind ever made! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned two examples of this first release Italian locandina! What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: fair to good. The poster had extra folds at a slight diagonal above and below the regular top and bottom ones, with some scuffs and fine surface paper loss on the folds. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. Something went wrong in linenbacking, and there are now a number of semi-circular creases in the poster near the center that should be addressed. Please bear this significant defect in mind before bidding on this poster. Learn More about condition grades
