An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (measures 28 1/4" x 42 1/4") (Learn More)

The Blonde Pick-Up, the 1951 Roberto C. Dertano wrestling drugs prostitution sexploitation action crime thriller ("Women gambled honor, Men promised love"; "Girl rivals match wits"; "The story of girls in a man's world"; "She was only '18' and eager for her 'new profession'"; "Low-down on pin-down girls!"; "The strange love life of a wrestling gal!"; "See.. intimate scenes of gorgeous girl wrestlers with the naked eye of the camera!"; about a wrestling promoter who gets involved in drugs and prostitution and owes a crime boss a lot of money, and has a limited amount of time to raise it or face being killed) starring Peachers Page (billed as "Introducing Peachers Page, The most exciting body in Hollywood!"), Clara Mortenson (as herself), Rita Martinez (as herself), Timothy Farrell, and Muriel Gardner. Note that there was a gimmick in this movie in that the female stars were actual real life professional female wrestlers! The IMDb says that this movie was released under many titles, including "Racket Girls", "The Blonde Pick-Up", "Pin-Down Girl", "Pin Down Girls" and "Wrestling Racket Girls", but that its first release name was as "Racket Girls". However, we have never seen any movie paper with this title, and almost everything we have seen which includes several different sizes have all been with the title "The Blonde Pick-Up" (we have seen a one-sheet with the alternate title "Pin-Down Girl"), so we are wondering if the IMDb is simply wrong, and we list this movie under that title. Also note that this movie bears a striking resemblance to "Night in the City", a well regarded 1956 film noir. We wonder if the writer of that movie was "inspired" by this one! Note that Timothy Farrell is completely forgotten today, but he had a fascinating life. He worked for 26 years for the Los Angeles County Marshal's Office, and was a movie actor at the same time! He mostly worked on low budget movies, including several for Ed Wood, although he did play a bailiff in the 1954 "A Star is Born", which was the ultimate typecasting, because he himself had been a bailiff, but he eventually rose to be the County Marshal. But in 1975, he was convicted of a felony (using deputies for political activities), and he was fired. He lived for another 14 years before dying of a heart attack. His life should be made into a movie, no doubt with Johnny Depp in the starring role!

Important Added Info: Note that this one-sheet measures 28 1/4" x 42 1/4". Please do not bid on this poster thinking it is 27" x 41".

Condition: very good. This poster was linenbacked, and one of the following is true: either the poster had minor defects, and was well backed, OR it had more significant defects, but they were extremely well restored, OR it had some very minor defects that were not completely restored, and are somewhat noticeable. You can tell which of the above is the case for this particular poster by reading our "pre-restoration" description and also by looking at our "super-sized" image of the actual poster (we are the only major auction company we know of that gives accurate detailed pre-restoration information about linenbacked posters to our bidders, but we wish everyone did!). Note that we gave this condition grade to a very few posters that were in pretty good condition prior to linenbacking, but which were not all that well linenbacked, and which could be fairly easily re-backed with only minor additional restoration.

The poster had creases, tears, and tiny areas of paper loss in the vertical foldline. There were extra creases along the top two foldlines. There were pinholes in the corners and very minor border defects. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was nicely backed, and displays well.
