Pakula political murder conspiracy crime thriller ("As American as apple pie."; "Based on the novel by Loren Singer") starring Warren Beatty, Hume Cronyn, William Daniels, Paula Prentiss, Kenneth Mars, and Anthony Zerbe. Note that when this movie was made, many people thought its view of the American government was completely paranoid, but many have changed their views on that subject over the years! Artist: Walter Glinka Important Added Info: Note that before artwork was approved for posters, sometimes mock-ups were created of several different possibilities, so that the producers could choose the one they want. In this case, Saul Bass' friend Walter Glinka had an 8x10 printed on Kodak paper showing his design in black and white. It has a completely different image and different taglines from that which was ultimately used (and unfortunately, this unused design is, to my mind, far superior to that of the campaign that was used instead). Note that this is one of fifteen Saul Bass related items we were consigned from a very longtime Saul Bass collector. While Saul Bass did some incredibly memorable movie posters (including Vertigo and Anatomy of a Murder), much of his work only appeared in print ads, often in exhibitor magazines, and locating those ads (either in the magazine, or cut out of them) is incredibly difficult, because the magazines only went to theater owners, and virtually no one saved them!
