Herman illustrated biographical book ("By sixty famous screen stars") detailing how Hollywood stars of the day began their careers in the movies (there is one page for each of the stars with a high quality full-page black & white image of that star facing it. Some of the stars include Buster Keaton, Lon Chaney Sr., Al Jolson, Gary Cooper, Gloria Swanson, Charlie Chaplin, Clara Bow, Douglas Fairbanks, William Boyd [Hopalong Cassidy], Greta Garbo, Mary Pickford, Joan Crawford, John Gilbert, and more!). It's really amazing that just about everyone who was a giant star in 1928 STAYED a giant star well into the 1930s! Note that this book had an unusual publishing history! It was first published in an over-sized softcover edition in 1928, and then it was reprinted in 1930 in a smaller hardcover edition (it is very unusual that the softcover edition came first!).
