Date Sold 4/14/2024Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Title Lobby Card (LC TC; measures 11" x 13 13/16" [28 x 35 cm]) (Learn More) Hoi Polloi, the 1935 Del Lord slapstick comedy short ("Meet the new darlings of society!"; "A Columbia Two Reel Comedy"; a parody of Pygmalion, which became "Mr Fair Lady"; a professor finds the Stooges, who are garbage men, and tries to transform them into fine gentlemen, with comic results!) starring The Three Stooges (Moe Howard, Larry Fine, Curly Howard), Robert Graves, and Gino Corrado, NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that ANY movie paper from this movie is incredibly rare. We have never auctioned even a single movie paper item from this movie until we received this lobby card! Not only that, but ANY lobby cards from 1930s Three Stooges movies are beyond rare (as rare or more rare than the one-sheets, because very few theaters ever ordered one-sheets for comedy shorts, and far less would have ever ordered lobby cards). In all our years of auctioning, we have only auctioned two 1930s Three Stooges lobby cards, one from 1937 (which sold for $3,180) and one from 1939 (which sold for $1,650). Both of those were scene cards, and this wonderful card is from two years earlier than the older of the other two, and it is a title card, not a scene card! Also note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has. Finally, note that this lobby card has been trimmed and it now measures 11" x 13 13/16" [28 x 35 cm]. Condition: good to very good. The card has red smudges in the bottom border. It has a horizontal crease in the center of the top blank border. It has some faint smudges around the edges and some scattered in the image. An incredibly tiny amount of the left and right blank borders were trimmed off (a total of 3/16"), and only blank white paper was affected. Note that this card is completely unrestored and there is not a single piece of tape on either the front or back. This incredibly rare and desirable card can absolutely be displayed as it is, or certainly, one could choose to have any degree of restoration performed, with or without backing it, but that will be the choice of its new owner. Its defects are definitely relatively minor, and please look closely at our super-sized images to see exactly what they are. Learn More about condition grades
