Date Sold 5/10/2018Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Insert Movie Poster (measures 14" x 36" [36 x 91 cm]) (Learn More) Counter-Espionage, the 1942 Edward Dmytryk World War II (WWII) London England spy espionage detective mystery crime comedy ("Spy spies on spy in a London air raid!"; "Handing spies a knock-out in a London black-out!"; "The Lone Wolf runs rings around a spy ring!"; "Risking bullets from spies... to save London from bombs!"; "A Yank's Wits Put a Nazi on the Fritz!"; "Based upon a work by Louis Joseph Vance"; about German spies in London trying to steal secret plans during the bombings of London, and only The Lone Wolf can stop them!) starring Warren William ("as 'The Lone Wolf'"), Eric Blore, Hillary Brooke, Thurston Hall, and Fred Kelsey. Note that The Lone Wolf was a character in a series of eight novels that author Louis Joseph Vance wrote starting in 1914, and the first movie starring the character was in 1917, with Bert Lytell in the lead role. There were three movies after that with three different actors in the lead role. Then Lytell returned to the character, and there were many movies in a short period, and then Lytell starred in some sound movies as the character. In the 1940s, Warren William starred in a series of Lone Wolf movies, and then the character was played by Gerald Mohr. There were a few single entries mixed in where other actors played the lead role. In all, there were 24 Lone Wolf movies! The character was a master thief turned detective, and there were several other characters who were very similar, but few had the enduring popularity of The Lone Wolf! Some of these items can ONLY be sent in flat packages, and could not possibly be rolled into a tube. On some of them (for example if it is a size that might ordinarily be rolled in a tube, like a half-sheet), the reason it is in this auction is specifically because we feel it either CAN'T be rolled or because we feel it would be a mistake to roll it, because it might well damage the item. In the case of the few items that could be rolled, we will roll the item in a tube if the new owner insists, but only if they accept that they can't return the item if it is damaged from being rolled. So please bear in mind that this item must be sent in a LARGE flat package (the size of the package will depend on the size of the item), and bear this added expense in mind before placing a bid on it. Condition: good to very good. The insert has been mounted to a thick piece of cardboard and then tightly wrapped in a plastic cover. It has creases and some tears around the edges as well as some border loss in the upper corners (although there could be tape repairs on the back but we cannot tell for certain as the cardboard frame is sealed in plastic.) Please see our super-sized image to get a good sense of the condition of this item prior to placing a bid. Learn More about condition grades
