Artist: Saul Bass Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster was never folded. It had a diagonal tear running across the top of the poster, going through the top of the image, and ending in the right border to the right of the top of the Capitol Dome. There was a 2" tear in the lower left border and two 1/2" tears near the center of the top border. There was a handwritten NSS number in the bottom right corner and some faint smudges and scuffs scattered in the image. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The restorer backed the poster "in the European style", meaning that they did not do restoration to the defects described above. Learn More about condition grades
