eMoviePoster.comAuction History Result 3a153 BROADWAY BILL WC '34 Frank Capra horse racing comedy, art of Warner Baxter & Myrna Loy! Date Sold 5/6/2010Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Window Card Movie Poster (WC; measures 14" x 22" [36 x 56 cm]) (Learn More) Broadway Bill, the 1934 Frank Capra horse racing gambling romantic love triangle comedy melodrama ("Great Alone - Perfect Together!"; "Two Great Stars in The Comedy Successor to 'It Happened One Night'"; "The Comedy Successor to 'It Happened One Night'!"; "Based on the story by Mark Hellinger"; screen play "by Robert Riskin"; about a gambler who is married to the daughter of a millionaire, but she doesn't share his interests in gambling or horse racing, but her younger sister does, and it takes him a while to realize that he married the wrong sister!) starring Warner Baxter, Myrna Loy, Walter Connolly, Helen Vinson, Margaret Hamilton, Clarence Muse, and Broadway Bill the horse (in the title role). Director Frank Capra remade this film in 1950 as the musical "Riding High", in which he actually used many of the same actors so he wouldn't have to re-shoot any of the big race scenes, which were reused from this film! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this window card was never folded. Often window cards would be folded across the middle, because that would make them 11" x 14", and they could then be sent with standard folded posters. Most collectors put an added value on a window card that has never been folded. Condition: good. There are some scattered dot water stains in the center of the card, including in the lower part of both stars' faces and their necks. There is an oval-shaped stain to the left of the "B" of "BAXTER" in the credits, with dot stains surrounding it and a drip stain below it (down to the bottom border). There are some dot stains in the upper left and middle right borders. Otherwise, the card is in surprisingly nice condition and has never had any restoration or tape. I would think that a restorer could likely lighten or remove the water staining described above through chemical means, after which the card will look wonderful. I would also say that because the staining is scattered and not that distracting, some collectors could display and enjoy the card exactly as it is! Learn More about condition grades
