An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Japanese "B2" Movie Poster (measures 20 1/4" x 28 5/8" [51 x 73 cm]) (Learn More) Tokyo Boshoku (released in English-speaking countries as "Tokyo Twilight"), the 1957 Yasujiro Ozu Japanese family relationship single parent melodrama (about a seemingly single father of two adult daughters, one divorced with a child and the other pregnant, searching for the boyfriend who impregnated her, and THEN the mother the daughters were told died long ago resurfaces!) starring Setsuko Hara, Ineko Arima, Chishu Ryu, Isuzu Yamada, and Teiji Takahashi. This is one of director Ozu's darkest movies, and it shows a very different side of him from many of his best known movies! Also note that Yasujiro Ozu was a legendary Japanese writer and director from 1920s to the 1960s. He is likely the second best regarded Japanese director after Akira Kurosawa, and many of his films are considered classics, and his masterpiece is "Tokyo Story" from 1953, although he made movies from 1927 to 1962. First release Japanese posters of any kind from any of his movies are beyond rare! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this is an extremely rare poster. We have never auctioned this particular poster in all our years of auctioning. We previously auctioned the local city version of this poster and it sold for $1,100, but this is the regular studio version which we have never auctioned before! Note also that this is a "country of origin" poster for this Japanese movie! Condition: good to very good. The poster was never folded. It had a snipe attached to the bottom that caused some stains and tears along the bottom border with paper loss in the bottom left blank corner. It also had a number of creases across the center including in the young woman's hair. It had has some stains and tears in the left and right borders, more near the middle of each where the creases were. Someone performed amateur restoration some of the above defects without backing the poster. IT can be displayed and enjoyed as is, or certainly more professional restoration could be performed.
