eMoviePoster.comAuction History Result 9y0683 AMERICAN VENUS LC 1926 sexy contestants lined up in Miss America pageant, ultra rare! Date Sold 10/26/2021Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (LC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) The American Venus, the 1926 Frank Tuttle silent Atlantic City New Jersey romantic Miss America beauty pageant comedy ("See Fay Lanphier [Miss America] and 20 beautiful girls in a fast-moving-peppy story-") starring Esther Ralston, Ford Sterling, Lawrence Gray, Fay Lanphier (billed as "Miss America [Fay Lanphier] winner of the Atlantic City Beauty Contest"), Louise Brooks, and Douglas Fairbanks Jr. Note that this movie is set at the Miss America Pageant in Atlantic City, New Jersey, and it was made just three years after the pageant began, and the just-crowned Miss America was one of the actresses in the movie! The movie is probably best remembered for the appearance of cult actress Louise Brooks in an early minor role. She was not billed on the posters, but her image DOES appear full-length on the three-sheet! Finally, note that this is a "lost" film which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist (only two trailers exist). NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that lobby cards from this movie are incredibly rare. We have previously auctioned a different scene card (the same exact card twice), but no other lobby cards until we were consigned this card. Note that while Louise Brooks plays one of the contestants in the Miss America contest ("Miss Bayport"), she is NOT one of the contestants pictured on this card (the "Miss Nevada" has a haircut like Miss Brooks' later trademark haircut, but Miss Nevada is definitely not Louise Brooks!). This was confirmed for us by two major Louise Brooks experts, and it does seem bizarre that there was another contestant who looked so much like Louise Brooks, but that's how it was (and no one knows who Miss Nevada was, but she was possibly a real-life Miss America contestant). Also note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has. Condition: very good. The card has a pinhole in each corner and some smudges around the edges. Otherwise, the card is in nice condition. Note that this lobby card is completely unrestored and there is not a single piece of tape on either the front or back! Learn More about condition grades
