1992 Summer Olympics (officially known as the Games of the XXV Olympiad) was an international multi-sport event held in Barcelona, Spain in 1992. Beginning in 1994, the International Olympic Committee decided to hold the games in alternating even-numbered years; as a result, the 1992 Summer Olympics were the last competition to be staged in the same year as the Winter Olympics. The games were also the first since 1972 to be unaffected by boycotts. The official mascot of the games was Cobi, a Catalan sheepdog (in cubist style) designed by Javier Mariscal
