An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Chapter #2 (The Lion's Fangs) One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) Perils of the Wild, the 1925 Francis Ford South Sea jungle family-stranded-on-a-desert-island silent adventure serial ("An Adventure Picture"; "Based on the thrilling adventures of 'The Swiss Family Robinson'", the 1812 novel by Johann David Wyss) starring Joe Bonomo (famous strong man who vied with Charles Atlas for the "Most Perfect Man", he appeared in 32 movies, but like Atlas, his primary business was selling books and pamphlets telling how to acquire a body like his!), Margaret Quimby, Jack Mower, Alfred Allen, and Eva Gordon. Note that even though the novel this movie was based on was written in 1812, apparently no one could come up with a budget to make a filmed version of it until this one in 1925! There was a sound remake under the novel's title in 1940, and then there was a TV movie version with Laraine Day and Patty Duke in 1958, and then the Disney version in 1960 with Hayley and John Mills, and they have been many versions since. Also note that some say that Boris Karloff had a very early role in this serial, but as it is a "lost" serial (which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist), it is impossible to prove. Also note that star Joe Bonomo performed his own stunts, and received several serious injuries during the filming of the movie. Also note that director Francis Ford was an actor, writer, and director from the 1900s to the 1950s. He was the older brother of director John Ford, and directed films (almost 180!) up until 1928, when he turned to acting exclusively, and he acted in a total of 487 movies! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that first release 1925 movie paper from this movie is incredibly rare. We have never auctioned even a single poster from this movie (only a lobby card, herald, and a still) until we received this one-sheet! What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster had tiny paper loss at the crossfolds and some tiny bits of paper loss on parts of some folds. It had pinholes around the edges and a few in the image.
