Romeo and Juliet, the classic 1968 (released in the U.S. in 1969) Franco Zeffirelli (nominated for the Best Director Academy Award for this film) English/Italian romantic tragedy ("No ordinary love story...."; "Paramount Pictures takes great pride and pleasure in presenting to the American public the return of the greatest love story of all time."; "This 'Romeo & Juliet' is no ordinary love story"; "Screenplay by Franco Brusati and Masolino D'Amico"; a production of the classic Shakespearian play; nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award) starring Olivia Hussey (in the title role as Juliet), Leonard Whiting (in the title role as Romeo), Milo O'Shea, Michael York (as Tybalt), John McEnery (as Mercutio), Pat Heywood (as the nurse), Natasha Parry (as Lady Capulet), and Robert Stephens (as the Prince). Note that Hussey was 16 and Whiting was 17 when the movie was made, making them the youngest performers ever to professionally play Romeo and Juliet!
