An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) The Climax, the 1944 George Waggner Universal kidnapping suspense thriller ("The Screen's Classic of Suspense!"; "Adapted by Curt Siodmak from the play by Edward Locke"; basically an unauthorized remake of The Phantom of the Opera, which Universal had made the year before with Susanna Foster, who stars in this movie, where Karloff is a demented doctor who, years ago, killed his fiancee rather than have her become an opera star, and now he becomes obsessed with another beautiful young opera singer, and he wants to stop her from singing by any means, and of course, her young lover is trying to save her from the mad doctor!) starring Susanna Foster ("Sensation of 'Phantom of the Opera!"), Turhan Bey ("Romantic Hit of 'Dragon Seed'!"), Boris Karloff ("Great star of 'Arsenic and Old Lace'!"), Gale Sondergaard, June Vincent, Thomas Gomez, George Dolenz, Jane Farrar, Ludwig Stossel, and Scotty Beckett. Note that this movie was a remake of Universal's movie of the same name made in 1930, starring Jean Hersholt and Kathryn Crawford. What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: fair. The poster had darkened and it had many creases, tears, and stains along the folds, and some scattered throughout the poster. It had tears and paper loss around the edges. Overall, the poster was in fair condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was not very well backed, and the person who backed it did not glue the left border correctly, because there is an area to the left of the "T" of "The" that is separated and "lifting" from the linen.
