A Vintage Hardcover Book (measures 6 1/4" x 9 1/4" [16 x 23 cm]; 864 pages) (Learn More) Film Daily Yearbook of Motion Pictures, the 1926 book with information and statistics from all facets of the film industry. Included is the comprehensive list of actors and actresses and their credits from the just concluded years of 1925-1926. Also included are detailed lists of industry personnel and production companies as well as much information about distribution. On the inside front cover is an ad for UFA, and that page shows an image of the UFA building, and the facing page, which is the first interior page, has a really cool list of "Ten Outstanding Pictures for 1926", which are ten UFA movies they released that year, which include Faust, Metropolis, Variety, Sigfried, and Tartuffe, which is a really staggering list of great movies, and surrounding the list are images of eight of the stars of those movies including Jannings, Veidt, and Brigitte Helm. Note that very clever poster dealers have used these yearbooks to find out exactly where there were movie theaters in their area (and the surrounding states) and they have contacted the former owners of those theaters (or their heirs), and have found many great finds of movie posters in that way! Of course, we can't guarantee that will work for YOU, but it sure seems worth a try! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that over the years, we have seen quite a number of Film Daily Yearbooks from the late 1930s to the 1980s (one was published every single year), but until recently, we never knew exactly when it was first published! We were consigned an amazing collection of these (and similar hardcover books), and we are currently auctioning them, all in separate auctions. The earliest one in the collection is from 1926, and it is only the second one we have seen from the days of silent film. We were able to determine that the very first Film Daily Yearbook was published in 1919, so this 1926 one is the 8th one published! Also note that we have pictured the front cover, the title page, and the interior page that shows the publishing information, and one or more interior 2-page spreads. Condition: good. The binding is coming loose from the rest of the book, and there are stains and tears around the edges of the covers, with paper residue stuck to parts of the front and back covers.
