An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (measures 27" x 41") (Learn More) Idol of the Crowds, the 1937 Arthur Lubin ice hockey sports action thriller starring John Wayne, Sheila Bromley, Charles Brokaw, Bill Burrud, Jane Johns, Russell Hopton, Hal Neiman, and Huntley Gordon NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: very good. This poster was linenbacked, and the restorer did a good job, but you can see signs of the restoration from inches away (since most people look at posters framed on a wall from at least a few feet away, we don't feel this is a defect, but we feel it should be noted). See below for this poster's pre-restoration condition (we are the only major auction company we know of that shares this information with our bidders, but we wish everyone did!). good to very good. There were tears and small areas of paper loss in the top 1/4 of the vertical foldline. There were small tears in the rest of the vertical foldline and small paper loss at each crossfold. There were pinholes in the corners and tears, creases, smudges, and small areas of paper loss around the edges of the poster. There were some 2" and 3" creases within the image area, but none near Wayne's face. This poster is an ideal candidate for re-linenbacking! The original restorer did not leave any excess linen. There is scuffing and smudges in the solid areas of the image. If the poster is re-backed, the restorer can surely make the poster's defects much less noticeable (they really are not all that noticeable even now), and the poster will look great!
