Auction History Result #003 DRACULA 1sh R60s Bela Lugosi Date Sold 7/23/2002Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. R60s Vintage Theatrical Folded One-Sheet Movie Poster (27" x 41") (Learn More) Dracula, the classic 1931 Tod Browning Universal vampire monster horror thriller ("The Greatest of all Horror Thrillers"; "The Vampire Thriller!"; "The story of the strangest passion the world has ever known!"; "Do vampires really exist?"; "From the famous novel & play by Bram Stoker") starring Bela Lugosi (in the title role as Count Dracula), David Manners, Helen Chandler, Dwight Frye (if there had been a Best Supporting Actor Academy Award in 1931, Frye would have surely won it for his wild over-the-top portrayal as Renfield!), Edward Van Sloan (as Professor Abraham Van Helsing), Frances Dade, and Herbert Bunston NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this poster came from a man who worked for Universal Studios in the 1960s and 1970s. He received many posters as samples, and that meant that they were in wonderful unused condition, and also he received several rare advance posters not commonly seen (some of the posters he had have never been seen before, and it is possible that they were promotional samples that were never distributed outside the studio, and it is possible the copy offered here is the only surviving copy!). eMoviePoster has sold many posters from this man's collection, and collectors have paid a premium to purchase them (both because of the condition and the rarity of some of the posters). This week, eMoviePoster is selling 12 posters from this collection. Those twelve posters have this paragraph on them. Be sure to look at the other eleven posters from this collection we are selling this week on eBay (as eleven separate items). Condition: fine. There are extremely minor creases along the foldlines and there are a few extra vertical creases to the right of the vertical foldline (this was caused when the poster was machine folded). I would think most dealers would describe t. Who among us can afford to pay five figures for an original Dracula one-sheet (or four figures for a Realart re-issue one-sheet)? This 1960s UNIVERSAL re-release is the best alternative for the rest of us! It has attractive graphics and was put out by the very same studio that released the original in 1931, plus it is a very rare poster! Learn More about condition grades
