An Original Vintage Linenbacked World War I Poster (measures 20" x 30" [51 x 76 cm]) (Learn More) Clear-The-Way-!!, the 1918 U.S. World War I (WWI) War Bond poster ("Buy bonds"; "Fourth liberty loan") featuring great Howard Chandler Christy artwork of sailors firing a cannon with the American flag and Columbia (an early symbol for America, similar to Uncle Sam) in the background. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: Howard Chandler Christy Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster was never folded. It had a 10" uneven tear in the left of the top border extending down into the words. It had some paper loss in the top left blank corner and some tears and small paper loss scattered in the poster, with a tiny bit in the girl's raised arm. Overall, the poster was in good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was pretty well backed, but you can see signs of the above defects and the restoration of the above defects.
