Artist: Joseph Smith Important Added Info: Note that this style B half-sheet is FAR more rare than the style A half-sheet. We have auctioned six examples of the style A half-sheet, but we have only twice before auctioned this style B half-sheet. The first example we auctioned was 16 years ago, and it auctioned for $966. We auctioned the second example in 2016, which sold for $1,575, and the winner of that auction had re-consigned that same poster to us, so that makes this only the third example of this style B half-sheet we have ever auctioned! Note that this movie was originally in 3-D. The studios created both 3D and 2D posters and lobby cards (the 2-D posters and lobby cards were for theaters that lacked the 3-D equipment). This poster is from the "3-D" release. Note that this poster has been paperbacked. What is paperbacking? This means the poster was backed onto a paper backing (acid-free), that is similar in feel to that of the original poster (except somewhat heavier). It is a similar process to linenbacking, except that most collectors use linenbacking for one-sheets and paperbacking for half-sheets, inserts, window cards, and lobby cards. Note that because this poster was paperbacked onto a somewhat thicker paper backing, it CAN'T be sent rolled (someone could conceivably roll it or try to do so, but we think it would surely damage it, so we will only send it in a large flat package, unless the buyer insists, and then they would be responsible for any damage). It will need to be sent in a large flat package which measures approximately 24" x 30", so bear this shipping cost in mind before placing a bid on this poster. What IS paperbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good. Prior to paperbacking, the poster was never machine folded. It had a 8" semi-circular tear running into the center of the face of the girl at lower left, with a 3" horizontal tear running into her neck, and some other creases and scuffs in that area and in the tie of the man next to her. There were also some faint scuffs scattered in the people's images and a stamp on the back of the poster that slightly bled through to the front in the blonde woman's forehead. The poster had a 2" semi-circular tear in the right of the bottom border and a few other creases and tears around the edges and a few other scuffs scattered in the image. Overall, the poster was in fair condition prior to paperbacking. Given the poster's significant defects, the restorer did a pretty nice job with it, and it looks pretty good from a reasonable viewing distance, but you can clearly see the above defects when you get close to it, so bear all the above in mind before bidding.
