Nine, the 2009 Rob Marshall movie director romantic melodrama ("This holiday season be Italian"; "From Rob Marshall director of 'Chicago'"; "Based on the Broadway Musical 'Nine'") starring Daniel Day-Lewis, Marion Cotillard, Penelope Cruz (nominated for the Best Supporting Actress Academy Award for this film), Judi Dench, Fergie, Kate Hudson, Nicole Kidman, and Sophia Loren. Note that this movie was based on the Broadway musical, which itself was based on the classic 1963 Federico Fellini movie "8 1/2". The reason it is called "Nine" is because when Fellini sold the rights, he insisted that his name not be used and that the play could not be called "8 1/2", so they called it "Nine" instead.
