An Original 1950 (from the first release of this movie in Spain) Vintage Theatrical Folded Spanish Movie Poster (measures 26 1/2" x 38 1/4" [67 x 97 cm]) (Learn More) Charles Dickens' Great Expectations, the classic 1946 (released in the U.S. in 1947) David Lean (nominated for the Best Director Academy Award for this film) English romantic rags-to-riches inheritance melodrama ("Great romance, great thrills, great suspense, great adventure"; "Now the screen fulfills your greatest expectations... in action... in adventure... in romance"; based on the novel "by Charles Dickens"; nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award) starring John Mills (as the adult Pip), Valerie Hobson (as the adult Estella), Bernard Miles (as Joe Gargery), Francis L. Sullivan, Anthony Wager (as the young Pip), Jean Simmons (as the young Estella; Wager and Simmons are billed as "Introducing Anthony Wager & Jean Simmons"), Martita Hunt (as Miss Havisham), Finlay Currie (as Abel Magwitch), Freda Jackson, and Eileen Erskine NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: MCP Important Added Info: Note that we have never before auctioned this Spanish poster! First release posters from Spain from this period are extremely rare, especially ones from classic movies like this one. Also note that the poster has "Autorizada de Mayores", which translates to "Authorized for Adults", which was clearly a "ratings" warning (like "For Mature Audiences" in other countries)! Note that this poster has been trimmed and it now measures 26 1/2" x 38 1/4" [67 x 97 cm]. Also note that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube. Condition: good. The poster was trimmed around the edges (likely the blank borders were removed for display, however, we have never seen another example of this poster so we cannot compare the two). It has approximately 6" of discoloration and tiny tears, creases and bits of paper loss at the top edge of the upper vertical foldline and that area is backed by clear tape (as well as some small separation in the upper crossfold). There is a 1" tear at upper right that has been repaired with tape from the back and there is some tiny paper loss at the crossfold. Despite the defects, the art of the poster is "all there" and it could be displayed and enjoyed as is, but after some proper linenbacking and restoration the poster would display quite nicely.
