An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) Charlie Chan at the Wax Museum, the 1940 Lynn Shores Asian detective mystery crime thriller ("Death strikes four times in 18 eerie minutes"; "Death in the electric chair faces Charlie Chan...at the hands of a murderer twelve years dead!"; "Based on the character 'Charlie Chan' created by Earl Derr Biggers") starring Sidney Toler (in the title role as Charlie Chan), Victor Sen Yung (as Jimmy Chan; billed as "Sen Yung"), C. Henry Gordon, Marc Lawrence, Joan Valerie, Marguerite Chapman, Ted Osborne (billed as "Ted Osborn"), and Charles Wagenheim. Note that the very first Charlie Chan movie was "House Without a Key" in 1925, with George Kuwa as Chan. In 1927, "The Chinese Parrot" (directed by Paul Leni) starred Sojin Kamiyama as Chan. In 1929 came the third movie, "Behind That Curtain", starring E.L. Park as Charlie Chan. 1931 brought "Charlie Chan Carries On", starring Warner Oland in the first of many movies with him as the Asian detective, and he was later replaced by Sidney Toler and then Roland Winters (there would ultimately be 47 Charlie Chan movies!). Of course, Charlie Chan is one of the most memorable literary creations ever, from author Earl Derr Biggers, but because politically correct-minded people have viewed the character as outdated, the movies are rarely shown, which is a shame! The poster had separations in the top horizontal fold and in the vertical fold between the top and middle crossfolds, and someone put clear tape on the back of those two areas. There is darkening in the left 6" of the top horizontal fold extending 1 1/2" above and below the fold, but it is pretty slight (see our image). There are creases down the right border, extending into the credits at the middle. There is some minor fold and border wear. There is a small stain on the back of the right blank border that slightly shows through to the front. Other than the above, the poster is in pretty nice condition. Learn More about condition grades
