An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card #8 (LC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) The Girl Hunters (released outside the U.S. as "Operation FBI"), the 1963 Roy Rowland English mystery crime thriller ("Spillane is action!"; "Rough! Ripping! Raw!"; "Taut! Tough! Torrid!"; "Spillane") starring Mickey Spillane ("as Mike Hammer"; author of the source novel; unhappy with the previous screen portrayals of his pulp hero, he chose to play Mike Hammer himself!), Shirley Eaton (right before her role in Goldfinger!), Lloyd Nolan, Hy Gardner, and Scott Peters. Note that Mickey Spillane was a department store salesman in 1940 when he discovered he could sell stories for comic books, and he quickly wrote for all the major companies. After Pearl Harbor, he enlisted in the Air Force and became a fighter pilot. After the war, he wrote "I, the Jury" in 19 days, and it was published in 1947, and it sold 6.5 million copies in the U.S. alone. Its hero, Mike Hammer, a hard-boiled private eye, would appear in many more novels. Spillane would write for the movies, and he even played Mike Hammer in "The Girl Hunters" in 1963! Important Added Info: Note that the card has a very minor printing defect, which is a series of faint light yellow and blue lines down the left edge of the left blank border. This was a very minor printing defect that occurred during the printing of these cards, and it is found on many 1950s and early 1960s lobby cards, and few collectors consider it much of a defect at all, because it is in the left edge of the blank border, has no effect on the image, and would likely be on all examples of this lobby card. Condition: very good. There is brown paper tape on the back of the bottom border, but it was not put there for a restoration purpose, and the card is otherwise in nice condition!
