eMoviePoster.comAuction History Result 1v147 WEDDING BILLS WC '27 cool art of suave Raymond Griffith in top hat with dollar sign & bills! Date Sold 8/28/2008Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Paperbacked Window Card Movie Poster (WC; measures 14" x 22") (Learn More) Wedding Bill$, the 1927 Erle C. Kenton silent romantic marriage wedding comedy (Griffith is a perennial "best man" at weddings, and he is given a super expensive ring to present at a ceremony, and a pigeon snatches it from him, and he spends most of the movie comically chasing the pigeon!) starring Raymond Griffith, Anne Sheridan (no relation to the sexy Warner Bros. star Ann Sheridan!), Hallam Cooley, Iris Stuart and Vivien Oakland. Note that this is a "lost" film, which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this poster has been paperbacked. What is paperbacking? This means the poster was backed onto a paper backing (acid-free), that is similar in feel to that of the original poster (except somewhat heavier). It is a similar process to linenbacking, except that most collectors use linenbacking for one-sheets and paperbacking for half-sheets, inserts, window cards, and lobby cards. Condition: good. The poster had pinholes, creases, tears, and some areas of paper loss around the edges of the poster and some creases, smudges, and scuffs scattered throughout the image. Overall, the poster was in fair to good condition prior to paperbacking. The poster was well backed by a talented restorer, who did significant touch up to the smudges and scuffs in the head and hat of Griffith, and in the title and credits area, but not much restoration to the dollar sign and the blue background area. The poster HAS been somewhat heavily restored, but it is not that distracting, and the poster displays pretty well. Obviously, one would prefer to find an example of this window card that had no defects or restoration, but I do not know if another example of this card exists (or if it does, if the owner would consider parting with it!). This card has had expert restoration and displays nicely. Learn More about condition grades
