Note that this poster features colorful Henri Matisse artwork. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: Henri Matisse Important Added Info: Note that we have never before auctioned this French travel poster! The printing at the bottom translates to "edited by the Nice tourist office and the Mediterranean union for modern art", so it would certainly seem that the poster is almost certainly the first printing from 1947. Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster was never folded. It had a 1" tear in the lower right border and some creases in the lower left and some around the edges. It had scuffs scattered in the solid black areas. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was backed onto a fairly thin linen, which has creased around the edges, in the excess area.
