A Hand Painted Acrylic Recreation Painting (measures 27 1/4" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) Frankenstein, the classic 1931 James Whale Universal monster horror thriller ("The monster that terrorized the world!"; "The Man Who Made a Monster"; "Warning! The monster is loose!"; "Based upon the Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley Story"; "Adapted by John L. Balderston from the play by Peggy Webling"; the first of the Universal "Frankenstein" movies, and regarded as one of the finer movies of any genre, in large part due to the marvelous acting of Boris Karloff, and the marvelous direction of James Whale!) starring Colin Clive (as Dr. Herbert V. Frankenstein), Boris Karloff (as the Frankenstein monster), Edward Van Sloan, Fredric Kerr, Mae Clarke, Dwight Frye (extremely memorable as Fritz), and John Boles NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: What is this item? It is a recreation of the original 1924 poster, hand painted on canvas by an artist! When paintings like these first surfaced in the hobby in the 1990s, people THOUGHT they had discovered the "original art" for the movie posters, but before too long, it was revealed that someone had hired artists to recreate the paintings, and that they were at that time newly created. But of course, it takes a lot of time and effort to recreate an entire poster, and the unknown artist who did this one did a nice job. It is NOT a vintage movie poster, but it can be framed and enjoyed (but please don't tell your friends it is "an original"!). Finally, note that, while this item can be rolled, it is on a thick acrylic material that CAN'T be combined with other items, and it will need to sent by itself in a tube for the actual cost of shipping, so bear this in mind before bidding on this item. Condition: very good. The painting was attached to a stretcher, and the excess on each side was folded over and stapled to the sides of the stretcher. Someone later removed it, and there are many creases and some stains in that excess area, much more so in the top area. But this is solely excess material, and the painting itself is in pretty nice condition (see our images). Learn More about condition grades
