Date Sold 9/12/2019Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Window Card Movie Poster (WC; measures 14" x 17" [36 x 43 cm]) (Learn More) The Wolf of Wall Street, the 1929 Rowland V. Lee Great Depression Wall Street Stock Market high finance romantic love triangle melodrama ("A Paramount all talking picture"; a wild story of a Stock Market trader who corners the market in copper and makes a fortune, becoming known as "The Wolf of Wall Street", and then gets out at the top, selling short, and he becomes rich, but many people are ruined by his actions; one of them is the fiance of his maid, and she is furious, and tells him that his wife has been cheating on him with his partner, and he decides to get revenge by completely bankrupting his firm; even though it means that he himself is ruined, it also means his partner and his wife have nothing, and he walks out on both of them!) starring George Bancroft (in the title role as "The Wolf"), Olga Baclanova (billed as "Baclanova"), Nancy Carroll, Paul Lukas, and Arthur Rankin. Note that this had been thought to be a "lost" film (which means that no complete surviving copies are thought to exist), but a copy was found and is now touring in exhibitions. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that we have never before auctioned this window card, which has a completely different image from the other posters from this movie we have seen, and may well be the best poster image from the movie! The few other posters we have seen have art of Bancroft with a co-star, and are not surreal like this one, which has a literal wolf and Bancroft's head inside of a stock market ticket tape machine! Note that this poster has been trimmed and it now measures 14" x 17" [36 x 43 cm]. Also note that this window card was never folded. Often window cards would be folded across the middle, because that would make them 11" x 14", and they could then be sent with standard folded posters. Most collectors put an added value on a window card that has never been folded. Condition: very good. The poster had a blank top that was neatly trimmed off. It was in a frame, and it has slight darkening on the back and slightly on the outer edges of the front. Other than the above and some pretty minor wear, the card is in pretty nice condition, and can certainly be displayed and enjoyed as it is. Learn More about condition grades
